OUR STORY

Our story

WYLD BEGINNINGS

WYLD founder, Jonathan Muston, spent his life working alongside UK agriculture which left him with a deep appreciation of nature and the source of our food.

During lockdown Johnny made his dream a reality and set to work creating not just a business, but a movement – largely motivated by the desire for a better future for his children.

Human health and planetary health are intrinsically intertwined. WYLD aspires to forge meaningful connections between people, nature, and the origins of their food.

THE WYLD WOOD

Hidden away on the outskirts of a village, our secret WYLD woodland is only 10 minutes from central Milton Keynes but a world away from the hustle and bustle.

The restaurant has been designed to mirror the natural beauty of the woodland. Every structure has been handbuilt with care by WYLD founder, Johnny, using upcycled elements wherever possible.

OUR VALUES & PRINCIPLES

our location

Before we started work in the woods, it was suffocating in brambles. Brambles are an important part of the ecosystem (and provide blackberries for your dinner!), but managing them greatly improves biodiversity.

Sunlight now reaches the soil, and competition for water and nutrients is reduced – giving saplings and wild flowers the chance to flourish.

WILDLIFE

We carefully monitor the wildlife in the WYLD wood with interest. We are thrilled to have captured a variety of creatures on our wildlife cams including hares, deer, hedgehogs, badgers, and squirrels.

Resident and visiting birds include the greater spotted woodpecker, owls, pheasants and birds of prey.

MINIMAL IMPACT

Our event schedule is carefully planned to ensure minimal disrution to woodland residents. Everything we do is with the greatest of respect for the environment that we are borrowing from mother nature.

It may be a small woodland, but it is a place that is very special to us. We look forward to sharing this beautiful haven with you all.

Conservation

Conservation is at the heart of our movement. You can read more about how eating WYLD venison supports local wildlife conservation efforts here.

We are proud to extend our impact further by donating to various conservation charities each year. In 2023 we supported The Countryside Regeneration Trust, Butterfly Conservation and Buglife.

EDUCATION

Education is a key part of our development. We are proud to be initiating industry discussions with the aim of positively influencing food trends.

We’ve been lucky enough to have the opportunity to run workshops at MK college, educating young chefs on sustainable and ethical culinary practices, focusing on wild venison as a high-quality, earth-friendly meat. We are excited to now be taking these workshops into more colleges in the UK.

THE FUTURE OF WYLD

WYLD is expanding, in order to have a greater impact overall. We are so excited to offer new WYLD experiences to you all in the near future. Watch this space!
